| LESSON 09 | DECEMBER 3, 2011 KISLEV 7, 5772 |
Mr. Phillips would stop by every now and then. He would be drunk when he came to church. He would hear the music, and would come in to enjoy the service. And he did enjoy service. Sometimes the deacons would have to calm him down so that he didn’t walk so much, but he was never thrown out. Mr. Phillips was shown he had value by the people of God, even though he wasn’t dressed very well, didn’t smell very well, and sometimes acted out of order. That church knew that he was beautiful, because God made him.
Psalms 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
God made man in his own image. Therefore every human being has inherited beauty. We need to respect one another, and respect ourselves because we are created in his image. Since we are empowered by the Holy Ghost, we can be freed from the messages the enemy gives us about how we are ugly, in order to free others that are walking in darkness. We were in darkness, but now we see the marvelous light. This lesson reminds us that we are beautiful because God made us, and that everyone must be treated with respect.
You are beautiful in his sight. — Ezekiel 16:1-14, Jeremiah 29:8-14
You are so beautiful, that God gave his Son to save you. — I Peter 1:18-23
You are so beautiful, that Jesus suffered to save you. — Philippians 2:1-11
You have worth. We all have worth. Show love one to another. — John 3:14-17, I John 4:7-13
