Today’s lesson deals with the actual communication and waiting for God to speak. Being honest in your communication with God and expecting Him to hear you and answer are key components in effective communication with God. This is a modified lesson is from the Teen Lesson Book, just to give the adult class some exposure of what the Teens are learning, and what that book has to offer.
1. Hezekiah — 2 Kings 20:1-7, 12-16
a. How did Hezekiah approach God?
b. Did Hezekiah receive what he wanted from God?
c. Did Hezekiah appreciate God answering his prayer? Explain
d. What were the consequences?
2. Discuss 3 reasons that prevent us from being honest when communicating when God.
Sometimes you just want reassurance that God hears you, and He will send you signs to let you know that He did. Sometimes you are waiting for God to answer you. There are generally four categories of answers God gives: No (do not proceed), Go (proceed), Slow (proceed but carefully) and Grow (Gain some experience then ask again). Be ready to accept the answer God gives you.

Communicating with God varies from person to person. Practice communicating with God and based on the principles you gathered, experience a more fruitful relationship with your Creator.
