LESSON 50 AUGUST 27, 2011
AB 27, 5771

BE YE HOLY

introduction

Moses kept the flock of his father in law Jethro on the backside of the desert. He was passing the area of Mount Sinai when the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. Moses looked at the bush burning with fire; however, it was not consumed. Moses moved in closer to the bush to see this wonderful sight. God then called him from out of the mist of the bush. The first thing God tells Moses to do is to remove his shoes, for the ground that he stood on, was holy.

memory verse

Leviticus 20:7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.

bible lesson

Things that are holy are set aside for God’s use. God has set aside many things in the past to show a difference between items. For example the priestly garments, the altar, the holy of holies, and the shew bread were all set aside for God’s use. Today, we are to present our bodies a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto Him which is our reasonable service. We are still to maintain the holy standard that God has shown throughout the scriptures. Today’s lesson encourages us to be holy, for God is holy.

The tribe of Levi was set aside for the use of the tabernacle. —  Numbers 3:5-10, Deuteronomy 10:8-9

The anointing oil was holy. —  Exodus 30:22-33, 1 Chronicles 9:26-30

God set aside a people unto Himself. —  Leviticus 26:12, Jeremiah 7:23, 2 Corinthians 6:16-18

Our lives are to be holy before the LORD. —  1 Peter 1:16, 1 Corinthians 6:19- 20, Romans 12:1

application

Name three ways you were used by God last week because of your distinctiveness from the world around you.

How can you be used by God in the place that you live and work due to your stand in God this week?
