Be Mine

New Year's Resolution

candyAs we approach the Hallmark holiday where an estimated one billion valentines will be sent or exchanged to lovers across the globe, we pause to say, "Be Mine". Down through the years, lovers have found various ways to express their emotions to the ones they love. This outward expression may be in the form of a greeting card, a letter, a smile, a tender moment, or even a diamond ring! A diamond ring really says, "I love you" because the saying goes, "diamonds are a girls best friend". I would say, "diamonds makes my paycheck smaller" but I digressed from the topic (smile).

Renowned psychologist Abraham Maslow places this emotion of love within the middle portion of his Hierarchy of Needs paradigm. The need is within the social category; therefore, a belief that people are motivated by the urge to satisfy needs ranging from basic survival to self-fulfillment. He continues by stating that upper needs won't be satisfied until the lower-level ones are addressed. As we grow older and begin to appreciate our loved ones, we find that each person handles the expression of love differently.

coupleSome may express their love in a poem written with a crayon and lined paper. Others may cry with unstoppable tears as their child walks down the isle to a new life with a spouse. Some make capture the moment when the baby first arrive at the hospital with a camera proudly showing everyone that walks by. Jesus showed his love for us by sending his son into the world to die for our sins. We show our love to him by loving everyone around us with unconditional love. This month when you’re passing out your valentines, don't forget to love the person next to you; they know where you live.

Moses was a man that loved the Lord. He lead the children of Israel through the wilderness always going to Elohim for forgiveness when the people sinned. Although Moses did not enter into the promised land with the children of Israel, his legacy was cemented in history forever as a great man and leader of God. I guess something could be said about humble beginnings; he was a shepherd of his father in laws flock. Nothing adverse was going to occur to the flock while Moses was watching out for them.
